2DTG unveils upgrade to its 1D Barcode Decoder, Enterprise Edition – Release 12.12

Wed, 2012-12-12

2DTG offers 1D Barcode decoding software, which recognizes and decodes all major 1D Barcodes

Supported barcodes are separated into 3 groups as follows:

  1. EAN 13, EAN 8, UPCE, Code 39, Code 128, Interleaved 2 of 5, Codabar
  2. GS1 Databar (formerly known as Reduced Space Symbology family)
  3. PharmaCode, USPS PostNet, USPS IMB

Decoding software allows to auto-discriminate symbologies within the first 2 groups. Barcodes from the third group has to be selected manually in the software interface settings to be decoded.

The most notable new feature of the “Release 12.12” is the implementation of the multiple 1D barcode decoding feature for GS1 Databar.

In addition to that, a number of smaller improvements and bug fixtures were implemented, which resulted in increasing overall robustness of the 1D decoding library, as follows:

  1. Bug fixed in checksum and barcode length calculation in GS1 Expanded.
  2. Recognition parameters of EAN/UPC symbologies are modified.
  3. Search algorithm and recognition parameters of IMB and Postnet codes are modified.
  4. PharmaCode decode algorithm was improved to better distinguish between thin and thick bars and to improve bar and space width estimation.
